Permeated paintings and Spillage performance
The Permeated paintings emerged from the live performance Spillage, developed in collaboration with performance artist KV Duong and shown at the Brink exhibition at the Ugly Duck, London, 2023, curated by Marjorier Ding. Using the remnants of the performance, I created the sculptural paintings that fully merged body sculptures and probs worn and utilised during the performance with fragments of discarded plastic, paints and stained canvas. I turned the canvas into an 'altar and my work methods naturally followed a grief ritual. Working on this unbearable battleground, I found solace in balancing the composition between marks, surreal and real, bird parts and plastic. Each fragment carries a narrative of human consumption and environmental degradation, serving as reminders of our collective impact on the planet, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate balance between human intervention and ecological balance.
