Stranded (2023), Sculptural painting, collected plastic from household waste, various seabird skulls and bones, bitumen and acrylic paint, canvas on wooden frame, 50 x 174.5 cm
Stranded
Stranded delves into the harrowing reality of plastic pollution's impact on seabirds, their entanglement in discarded packaging and fishing gear. Witnessing this ecological tragedy, I question how I can make a meaningful difference. I immerse myself in exploring the potential of collected plastic waste. Despite the discomfort of inhaling bitumen paint and molten plastic, I feel strangely connected to the tribulations these avian souls face. As I capture their essence on canvas, I am haunted by a persistent question: will humanity share the birds' betrayed fate?
